CONFIDENTIALITY

I am ethically and legally constrained to keep what you share confidential unless you give me written permission. You may say anything, with confidence that I will not repeat it, EXCEPT...

The law requires me to report the following potential dangers:

  • Suspected child abuse or adult dependent abuse.

  • If a patient poses imminent danger to another person.

  • If a patient poses imminent danger to themselves. I will make every effort to work with a patient to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken to ensure safety.

WHAT KINDS OF ISSUES DOES GROUP THERAPY ADDRESS?

Most often people participate in group therapy because they are having difficulties in their relationships or have something in their lives that they are finding painful and difficult to handle.

Some examples of the types of personal issues that members bring to group are:

  • Discomfort in social situations

  • Lack of intimacy in relationships

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Family of origin problems

  • Dissatisfaction with their friendships or romantic relationships

  • Poor self-esteem and lack of self confidence.

  • The group environment offers a safe a place to try out new behaviors or new ways of relating to others.                                                                                                                                                                                                     Currently I am accepting new clients for a Women's Group and a Mixed Gender Process Group.
